Buying a Vehicle

Buying a car or truck at the USL Auto Auction is easy, fun and can save you money. See the following rules to learn how simple it is to bid and buy at USL AA. You can also visit our support section for anwsers to frequently asked questions and tips on bidding.

Rules and Regulations (En Español)

  1. Individuals must have a valid U.S. picture ID or a valid U.S. Drivers License to purchase a car.
  2. Individuals who wish to bid on a car must purchase a yearly membership. Membership fee is $30.00.
  3. Individual buyers must provide a $500.00 cash deposit to enter the auction. Buyers are permitted one guest.
  4. Any vehicle purchased from a finance company will have an additional fee of $35.00.
  5. Vehicles sold for $1500.00 or less are purchased AS IS (regardless of lights).
  6. Vehicles must be arbitrated within one hour from the time of an accepted sale bid.
  7. All vehicles must be paid for in CASH or CERTIFIED BANK CHECK by noon the following day, unless an inspection is required. In these cases, payment is expected after the inspection or the cash deposit will be forfeited.
  8. Dealer vehicles must have a current inspections sticker. (Where the vehicle has been inspected within the last 90 days.) EXCEPTIONS: Finance source vehicles and Public Seller. NO vehicles will be available before 3 p.m. on Thursday if they need inspection. You must call before coming to the Auction, 252-355-4111. The Seller has until 12 noon Monday to inspect the vehicle.
  9. Titles will be available for pickup at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, except in the case of Title Delay. If this is the case, Seller has 30 calendar days from date of sale to produce the title. If the 30th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the seller has until 2:00 p.m. on the following business day to produce the title.
  10. Keys must be left in the ignition at all times.
  11. The lighting system is as follows:
          green GREEN - Vehicle is sold with a test drive.
          green YELLOW - Announced Conditions (Buyer Beware)
          green RED - As Is
          green BLUE - Title Delay (Seller has 30 calendar days to produce the title)
          green WHITE - Mileage is over 100,000
  12. All vehicles are being sold “AS IS” without warranty; expressed or implied, except for warranty of title.
  13. Test drives on purchased vehicles can only be done inside the gate.

Anything OVER $9999.00 goes up in $40.00 increments.
DO NOT DRIVE CARS PRIOR TO PURCHASE!

Change Buyer on Bill-of Sale: $50.00 - must have a membership
If not, buyer will have to purchase membership - $30.00.
Replace membership card - $5.00
